Dream Synthesizer 1.0 is an artistic exploration of the topic of "dream visualization" using neuroscientific methods to measure human brain activity.
Reading thoughts and visualizing dreams is a concept we know from Science Fiction. More than half of the time during sleep we dream. A condition in which we are free of all social forces. In my work I am trying to figure out if it is really possible to record dreams in a visual way with todays technology. My artistic approach is influenced by Yukiyasu Kamitani, who published questionable articles about visual reconstruction since 2009 and the movie „Bis ans Ende der Welt“ from Wim Wenders. I created my own portable hard- and software based EEG System, which is recording my brain activities in real time and creates an audible and visual experience of my dreams in an experimental and artistic way. The work is intended to sensitize society to think about how to deal with a technology that does not yet exist.
